Filming David 'The Hayemaker' Haye for Join In - Blog
David ‘The Hayemaker’ Haye? Boxing? Volunteering? YES!Last Wednesday (25.3.15) we filmed former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye for Join In as he showed his support for sport and paid Double Jab boxing club in New Cross, South London a surprise visit.
Helping out volunteer extraordinaire Head Coach Mike Harris and giving out tips to local boxing talent, such as rising-star and hard-hitter Marnie Millz Swindells, the boxing champ explained in an interview with Construct Creatives that he’d be nowhere today if it weren’t for the volunteers that helped him along the way.
We got some great interviews for the piece and the hectic crowded gym provided some great, visually stimulating content. So much so that what was originally going to be a 1.30 minute long piece has turned out to be over 2.30 minutes long.
We filmed on the Canon C300 and the Canon XF305 dodging other camera crews and news agencies who made up the media scrum. We had to be on our toes too as the schedule kept on changing! With the Join In team on the case, however, it all fell together and we got some great content.
Whilst David Haye got stuck in volunteering he also revealed in an interview with the Mirror that he is planning his return to the ring. David Haye who hasn’t fought for almost three years cited George Foreman’s return after a 10 year break to win the title back. No dates, however, are yet set. The boxing champion, who is renowned for having the gift of the gab, stated that he would in no way, shape, or form rise to the bated taunts of Tyson Fury. Tyson, spat Haye vehemently, is doing so purely for the chance to get a pay day, not a win.
