The DJI Phantom 3 is here! But is it any good?
We compare the DJI Phantom 3 with its predecessor the Phantom 2 and its camera with its main rival the GoPro Hero4 Black.
Looking much the same as the DJI Phantom 2, aesthetically there doesn’t seem to be much different, apart from some gold trimmings. Under the bonnet, however, there have been some upgrades. With the addition of the Visual Positioning System – as is found in the DJI Inspire 1 – the utilisation of their own camera, and their own 3 axis camera stabilisation gimbal instead of the Zenmuse, does this latest offering from the DJI techs serve up enough to warrant the jump from its predecessor (and, might I add, the very much still alive and kicking) DJI Phantom 2? We’ve compared some of the key stats below for you to decide yourself! However, with the integration of their application, auto take-off/set-down, a swish new controller, light bridge technology, and a host of other features we can’t say that we aren’t tempted!
As the DJI Phantom 2 doesn’t come with its own camera we’ve compared the GoPro Hero4 Black with DJI’s latest camera offering. DJI offer two camera types, Phantom 3 Advanced and Phantom 3 Professional; the only difference being the latter shoots in UHD. Note: these cameras are fixed to the quadcopter so no swapping out .
